What's Happening

Huge Thank You to Dawn's K-9

PAWS would like to give a great big THANK YOU to Dawn, Robin and all the volunteers at Dawn's K-9!  They are donating the proceeds from their Barn Hunt trials to PAWS.  The most recent trial was a great success and PAWS received more than $500.00 which went directly to vet bills for local animals in need. We are grateful that Dawn's has chosen PAWS as the recipient of their wonderful donation!

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) Clinic

On Saturday March 14, 2015, PAWS will be sponsoring a TNR Clinic.  Covered topics include Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) basics; dealing with kittens; and colony care basics, such as best practices for feeding, sheltering, monitoring the colony for newcomers and illnesses, and diplomatic solutions for dealing with nuisance complaints from neighbors.   The clinic will be held from 11 am to 1:00 pm at the Monroe County Public Safety Center, 100 Gypsum Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.  Requested donation is $5.00 or any size bag of Friskies dry cat food.  Please reserve no later than March 9, 2015 by e-mailing info@poconoanimalwelfaresociety.org.

You can help cats in your community and help to improve the outlook for homeless cats. Unneutered free roaming cats lead a stressful life and contribute to the hundreds  of cats and kittens that flood the area every year. Through a successful Trap Neuter Return program, individual cats will lead a healthier happier life and kittens will no longer be born to live a difficult life outdoors. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) involves humanely trapping feral cats, spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them against rabies and other common illnesses, and returning them to their outdoor “home” to live out their lives. A “colony caretaker” then continues to provide food, fresh water and adequate shelter to the colony cats and monitors their health. TNR is proven to be the least costly and most efficient way to reduce feral cat populations. It is also the only humane method. TNR is endorsed by numerous well-respected animal welfare organizations including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
